Navigating the journal
A skip link at the start of each page moves directly to the main content. Main navigation, article links, and footer links are available with a keyboard. Interactive controls display a visible focus outline. The mobile menu uses a labeled button with an expanded-state indicator and can be closed with Escape.
Each content page has a single main heading. Article pages include a table of contents with links to section headings, and breadcrumbs provide a route back to the journal. Category and tag archives are normal pages rather than features that require a search form.
Reading and visual presentation
The layout adapts to narrow screens. Text can be enlarged using browser controls, and descriptive alternative text accompanies editorial images. Information in an image is also explained by the surrounding article; the image is not the only source of essential instructions.
The website uses system font fallbacks and does not require a font download. It has no autoplaying media or moving text that a reader must stop. Reduced-motion preferences disable decorative transitions.
Article filters and JavaScript
The journal’s optional category buttons filter the visible article cards and announce the resulting count. Complete category archive pages remain available. Without JavaScript, all article cards and the navigation links remain visible, so access to the writing does not depend on the filter controls.
A written podcast companion
This edition contains written guides, not audio episodes. No information is available only through a player. The interview and etiquette guides also discuss participation without tobacco use or attendance in a smoky setting.

Email [email protected] with the page address, the task you were trying to complete, and the barrier you encountered. Browser and assistive-technology details can help identify a problem, but you do not need to disclose a diagnosis or other private information.
